After the warm-ups and stretch, the “cardio” portion of Cardio X is only 20 minutes long. Cardio X is actually very easy after getting used to the Insanity workouts. It is essential to make sure you have eaten enough food on Plyo days. Out of these three, I would say that Plyo is the most difficult a few times when I worked out to Plyo, I felt sick around the 40 minute mark and had to take it easy for the remaining 20 minutes. Of the P90X workouts, I consider Plyometrics, Kenpo X, and Cardio X to be the “cardio” workouts. While P90X does include cardio training, it is less strenuous (in my opinion) than Insanity. Each workout is bumped up to about an hour, and follows a similar pattern of interval training from Month 1. The Month 2 Insanity workouts are: Max Interval Plyo, Max Cardio Conditioning, and Max Interval Circuit. Typical interval training includes 30 seconds of high intensity exercises followed by 3-4 minutes of lower intensity exercises. The technique used in Insanity is called “interval training,” but it is different from typical interval training because the high intensity exercises last 3-4 minutes, while the breaks are normally 30 seconds long. Each of these workouts is about 40 minutes long, and they each pack a punch.
The three main workouts for Month 1 are: Plyo Cardio Circuit, Cardio Power & Resistance, and Pure Cardio. Every day that I do an Insanity workout, I find myself dripping in sweat. Resistance Training- Insanity is definitely the cardio program out of the two. I think it is very rewarding to be able to see my numbers going up, and the results show.Ĭardio v. When I see the numbers from previous workouts, I know that I can sometimes push out a few more reps. But I have found the other worksheets helpful because I have been able to measure my progress across several months. I do not use the Ab Ripper worksheet because the exercises simply move too fast and because I consistently do all the reps. In addition to the Fit Test, P90X also has fitness worksheets for all of the resistance exercise days. The Fit Test is supposed to be completed on Days 1 and 90. The book clearly outlines the equipment needed to take the Fit Test, followed by instructions for all the exercises. The P90X Fit Test is not a DVD rather, the directions for the Fit Test are in the P90X Fitness Guide.
I simply skipped the Fit Test days, but it could be useful for people wanting to measure their improvements over time. The Fit Test for Insanity occurs 5 times throughout the program, including the first day (day 1) and the last day (day 63). However, I have written a synopsis based on my experiences with both fitness routines.įit Test/Progress- I must admit that I have never actually done the Fit Test from either P90X or Insanity, but their purpose is to measure progress over time. While both are great Beachbody programs, it is ultimately going to be up to the individual to decide his or her preference and what will work for his or her personal lifestyle. A few people have asked what my thoughts are on choosing P90X versus Insanity for their personal workout routines.
